The Pet Food Manufacturers’ Association (PFMA), a trade body for the UK pet food industry, says that meat and animal derivatives are sourced from animals which have been inspected and passed as fit for human consumption and are the parts of the animal which are surplus to the requirements of the human food industry in the UK such as heart, lung, or muscle meat. These ingredients may be natural. They may be high in protein and even nutritious for your cat. However, it would be better if they were clearly identified in the ingredient list.
