Unfortunately, despite everything that the release does right, it's hard to ignore the fact that the game features less content than its last-gen sibling. The most popular modes have all made it across the generation gap, but components like 'Be a Pro' and 'Tournaments' are inexplicably missing, which is a little bit disappointing. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game feature a new game engine called the Ignite Engine. This features both graphical and gameplay advances on the previous game engine used by the FIFA series, the Impact Engine (which is used for the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 versions of the game [8]). Improvements include advanced AI to make players react more like real human beings (such as becoming anxious towards the end of a game when their team needs to score), "True Player Motion" to create more realistic movement from the players, and more enhanced realism for environmental features such as weather and the crowd, which responds to what is happening on the pitch in a manner similar to a real crowd (such as lamenting a near miss). [9] It was initially thought that the PC version of the game would also feature the Ignite Engine, but in May 2013, EA Sports confirmed this would not be the case. Good old dependable FIFA 14 has sprinted towards Christmas at the summit of the UK sales charts, meaning that it’ll surely fancy its chances for the Premier League crown this season. Another noteworthy change is the ball feels much more like an independent entity than ever before. During matches there are now instances in which the ball breaks free – after a rebound or misplaced pass – and both teams have to chase it down, rather than possession simply alternating between the two. It’s not revolutionary but I definitely haven’t encountered that openness in FIFA before. It creates a much more lively, physical experience, with more tussling and physical matchups. It produces a more realistic representation of the sport, and I found it a more enjoyable, unpredictable, and a slightly more competitive experience. a b Griffin, Ben (23 September 2013). Retrieved 10 June 2014.EA Sports has put the boot in its plans to launch FIFA 14’s post-release World Cup update today. The new iteration of Ultimate Team had been set to deploy later, but writing on the popular soccer simulation’s official forums, a spokesperson for the publisher revealed that it has encountered some “unforeseen issues”... Several small gameplay niggles and the unexpected absence of a couple of modes prevent FIFA 14 from attaining the perfection of Barcelona's passing statistic – but that doesn't stop the series' PS4 debut from sitting at the top of the league in terms of atmosphere, immersion, polish, and attention to detail. This is not only the most well-realised soccer simulation on the market, it's also one of the best launch titles available for Sony's next generation system.

FIFA Ultimate Team: Experience an exhilarating combination of FIFA gameplay, fantasy sports, and collectable trading cards. This incredibly popular game mode opens up a universe of new possibilities for building dream teams and authentic sides, as you compete with friends and rivals around the globe. At a basic rendering level though, little has changed since FIFA 09. The resolution of both PS3 and 360 versions remains at 1280x720, and Sony's console takes the quincunx anti-aliasing path once more to produce a faint blurring to grass textures when using the television broadcast camera. A less effective texture filter is also at play on PS3, as shown on club insignia during penalties, but this is scarcely noticeable unless put side-by-side. With all three versions patched up to version 1.01, and making sure our weather and pitch settings are synchronised, we compare each release through our head-to-head videos below. And as ever, we also have a FIFA 14 triple-format comparison gallery to hand.a b Wilson, Ben (23 September 2013). "FIFA 14 PlayStation 3 Review: Doubts over champion's title hopes prove unfounded".
